     I just started The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. The book takes place in Afghanistan in the final days of the monarchy that is present. This book is about two boys who currently live in Kabul who live in the same household but they both come and grow from different worlds. Amir is a son of a wealthy man and Hassan is the son of Amir's fathers servant. Hassan is a Hazara which is a member of a shunned ethnic minority. Amir and his father flee the country to California while the Soviets invade and Amir wants to escape his past. And yet he cannot leave the memory of his best friend Hassan behind him.

     I chose this book because this book because this sounds like a very interesting book. The book is mostly about friendship and bonds between family members. It seems like a very powerful book to the inside. When I read the synopsis, the book and the characters were sounding very interesting to me. The Kite Runner is historical fiction and I do have an interest to historical fiction. I like to read historical fiction because it has mystery and suspense. I think this book will be really good and enjoyable.
  

The central theme in The Death of Bees is family secrets. Marnie and Nelly have to keep a secret about their parents being dead from the outside world. Throughout the book, the secret is tougher to keep it a secret because their neighbor and people in the town keep asking Marnie and Nelly where are your parents. The family secret brings Marnie and Nelly closer and they soon realize that they only have each other. In the beginning of the book, Marnie and Nelly discovered that both of their parents are dead in their house. They don't want to tell the police so they wont have to go to the orphanage. Instead they burry them in their backyard. They don't want anyone to know where there parents are really are and to keep it a secret they tell people that they don't know where their parents are.
